TWIGS- Today’s Women in God’s Service
We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
The women of Crossroads are involved in many things. In the past we have done Spring Fling craft fairs (complete with an antique car show for the men), bake sales, Valentine banquets, game nights, women’s retreats, secret sisters, helping local school children with needs, and so much more.
Recently we have started making FIDGIT aprons to give to patients in nursing homes who have Alzheimer’s disease or other brain injuries. These aprons will have items sewn onto them so that patients will have something to keep their hands busy.
We are sewing on pom-poms, mesh material, silky or rough textured materials, shiny objects, buttons, zippers, buckles, beads, bold colors, etc. Whatever a woman can dream up to sew onto an apron is what makes these unique gifts for the mentally challenged.
All these items give the patients something pretty to look at and something to do with their hands. At the following link you will find some pictures of two of our first projects. The other women each will have unique designs for their aprons.
