CROSSROADS HISTORY

Pastor Mike:   When Mike Helton first came to this church, only a small group of believers were meeting together.  Mike became their pastor and re-named the church Crossroads Baptist. The building at the time was a temporary double-wide. Membership grew quickly, requiring a larger, more permanent sanctuary. Construction began on a building consisting of a sanctuary, prayer room, nursery, classrooms, and a large kitchen.

April 28, 2002:   Dedication ceremony for the new building.

September 21, 2003:   Harry Harris, Jon Baker, Calvin Womack, Steve Hicks, and Ernie Cearley were ordained as Deacons and Elders.

2004:   Pastor Mike Helton resigned to devote his time to Vision Ministries. Elder Jon Baker served as interim pastor during this period. A vote was taken and Jon Baker became the new Pastor of the church.

June 5th, 2004:   An ordination service was held to ordain Jon Baker as pastor and John Webster as music minister of Crossroads.

Sept 2007:   Original deacons and elders were released from their duties after serving 4 years. A ceremonial dinner was held in honor of these men and each received a plaque in recognition of their services. We have since ordained 3 more deacons; Wes Mason, Archie Simmons, and Carroll Harris.

August of 2009:   John Webster resigned as music minister and we are presently searching for a new leader of music.
